Planned Gifts Make a Huge Impact on Network Programs
In the past year, several new donors have stepped forward and made legacy gifts to Bassett Healthcare Network. These donors come from different counties and towns in the regions served by the network.
People across our network make legacy gifts to Bassett Healthcare Network. They may work in different positions, including engineering, teaching, insurance sales, and nursing, but what they share in common is a desire to help the people and places that have helped them.
Planning a gift is a great way to make a positive impact for a wide range of people in our communities. Setting it up can be as simple as adding an addendum to your will or setting up a charitable gift annuity that provides you with income during your life, with the remainder of the gift going to a hospital or program in the Bassett Healthcare Network upon your death.
Planned gifts may also provide you or your estate with significant tax exemptions, and they allow you to make a transformational gift during your lifetime while still having access to your assets.
With many options available for making legacy gifts, planned giving is one of the smartest ways to support the programs and medical centers that matter to you.
For example, one man who never married, lived modestly, and died single, recently left both a bequest in his will and a life insurance policy to Bassett's Heart Care Institute. His legacy has now stretched into six figures, and the impact of his generosity will be felt by cardiac patients in the community surrounding Cooperstown for years to come.
In December, Bassett Medical Center received a gift of life insurance from a donor who named Bassett as the beneficiary of her policy.
Other donors have created gift annuities or charitable remainder unitrusts that dispense income to them now and will yield donations to specific health centers and programs later.
