Current Campaign Goal: $65,000

Bassett’s growing K-9 Security team helps to elevate the level of safety and security we provide to caregivers and our patients. The program was developed to help meet the increased security needs healthcare workers face today. K-9 units quickly defuse tense situations before they escalate and are trained in tracking and other important protection techniques across healthcare settings. Bassett Healthcare Network, like hundreds of other health systems and hospitals across the country, has seen a significant uptick in violence against healthcare workers. Healthcare workers are now more than five times more likely to be victims of workplace violence than employees in any other industry.

The K-9 Security team at Bassett employs four working dogs and their handlers. The dogs are intelligent, resourceful, and alert to the environment around them. All four dogs—Hudson, Coal, Hutch, and Dankovich, are deployed through the generous support of donors.

Gifts to the K-9 program support the annual cost of each dog and help to expand the number of dogs to support the program in the future. To make a donation or find out more, contact the Friends of Bassett at friends.office@bassett.org or call (607) 547-3928
